Levels of Hospice Care Matching the best possible care to your needs.

Hospice of Broward County offers programs and services that meet the individualized needs of the patient and their family. We're there to make certain that each family receives the support, resources and care they deserve.

Routine Home Care

This level of care is provided in the patient’s residence, whether it be a home, an assisted living facility, a long-term care facility or wherever the patient resides.

Hospice Routine Home Care in the Skilled Nursing Facility

Hospice staff work with the skilled nursing facility to provide additional services to the patient. These services may include music therapy, integrative therapies, counseling, social worker support, and the spiritual support of a chaplain. Our care is a covered benefit under Medicare, Medicaid and most insurance companies; it is covered separately from the room and board charges of the skilled nursing facility.

Palliative Care

Palliative Care focuses on keeping the patient comfortable when cure is no longer an option or when the risks outweigh the gains. It addresses the comprehensive needs of the patient with a life-limiting illness, managing pain and symptoms to promote the highest degree of comfort, peace and dignity.

Respite Care

Hospice of Broward County offers short-term relief to caregivers by offering the patient up to five (5) consecutive days in an approved facility. Care is arranged by the Hospice Team.

Continuous Care

Patients in hospice care occasionally need more intensive and continuous nursing than routine care to abate a crisis situation. Continuous care meets the patient’s need in that situation, offering nurses and certified nursing assistants (CNAs) who monitor symptoms so that a patient can remain at home. Other members of the Hospice Team may also provide care during this time.

Medications

Hospice of Broward County can supply the medications related to a patient’s hospice care. We will provide all necessary supplies and ensure the appropriate medical equipment is delivered to the patient.
